The Person Holding the Room
The thread through my work has always been a desire to help people live with greater wholeness, aliveness, and connection to their deepest self.
Before founding State House, I spent more than two decades in service, ministry, and human formation, including work alongside Syrian refugees. Those years shaped how I understand belonging, adaptation, dignity, and the ways people carry responsibility through uncertainty and change.
Over time, I became increasingly interested in the gap between what people understand intellectually and what they can actually access when pressure rises. That question led me into nervous-system physiology, somatic practice, and Somatic Experiencing®.
Today, my work brings those threads together to help people meet responsibility without becoming disconnected from themselves, their relationships, or the life around their work.
-
My work begins with the understanding that insight matters—but it is not always enough to change what happens under pressure.
Together, we pay attention to both the patterns you can name and the physiological states beneath them. This includes how your nervous system responds to responsibility, uncertainty, conflict, visibility, and sustained demand.
From there, the work builds greater access to recovery, response flexibility, and choice. The aim is not to control every reaction or become calm all the time. It is to make more of yourself available in the moments that matter.
This approach is grounded in Somatic Experiencing®, nervous-system physiology, and reflective practice, and is shaped through The Human Capacity Method™.

I am a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner and hold a certificate in Somatic Coaching through The Embody Lab.
I am also a Certified Narrative Enneagram Professional, with a specialization in the Somatic Enneagram.
My additional training includes certificates in Somatic Anxiety Coaching and Somatic Attachment Therapy.
I hold a Master of Arts in Spiritual Direction and a second master’s degree in Intercultural Studies.
My work is educational and developmental. I am not a licensed psychotherapist, psychologist, physician, or other clinical healthcare provider. My services do not include diagnosis or clinical treatment and are not a substitute for psychotherapy, medical care, or crisis support.
-
My work has been shaped not only by somatic training, but by more than two decades in service, spiritual direction, and community formation.
I currently serve as Pastor of Community and Mission at Good Shepherd New York. That role has deepened my understanding of belonging, responsibility, conflict, transition, and the ways people stay connected to themselves and one another through change.
I work in an interfaith and inclusive way. For clients who want it, our work can include questions of meaning, vocation, identity, spirituality, and connection to the sacred. No faith background is required, and spirituality is never assumed or imposed.
For others, the work remains entirely secular and grounded in nervous-system physiology, somatic practice, and reflective inquiry.
In either case, the aim is the same: greater wholeness, aliveness, and connection to the person beneath the role.
Why State House?
State House began with a simple idea: the way we feel within ourselves shapes how we lead, relate, and move through the world.
The name also carries a sense of home. A house is a place of return, belonging, and shelter—a reminder that responsibility should not require us to become disconnected from ourselves.
For me, the name is personal too. State House was born on State Street in Brooklyn, where the work first began to take shape.
State House Somatics brings those ideas together: nervous-system states, human capacity, and the possibility of remaining at home in yourself while meeting the demands of your life.
A More Human Way Forward
The work of becoming more whole is not separate from leadership, responsibility, or ambition. It shapes how we meet all three.
State House offers a place to build greater capacity for presence, relationship, recovery, and choice—at work and in the rest of life.
